*Although EC2, Annex C permits a range of characteristic yield strengths between 400 and 600 MPa, BS 4449 and BS 8110 are being updated for the use of a 500 MPa grade. It is also worth noting that BS4449 and BS 4482 describe ductility in terms of two parameters: the tensile strength to yield ratio (Rm/Re), and the elongation, both at fracture (Ag) and at maximum load (Agt). The symbols used in EC2 for Rm / Re and Agt are ft and eu respectively.
